September Update and Let’s Try This Again

I let my habit of setting monthly goals slip for quite a few months until I realized I was feeling uninspired in life. I felt a bit adrift and didn’t like it so I decided to start back up with setting goals for myself again in September. It was a rough start back but that just means there’s a lot of room for improvement in October. So how did I do?

Accomplishments

8 No spend days– Counting this as a win although I’m not 100% sure I accomplished this because I didn’t do well in tracking it. I had 4 days for sure that I confirmed with my calendar were no spend days but I’m sure I had a few more as well.

4 hours on my novel- I spent three days on this and easily covered 4 hours over this time period.

4 books- close enough to count this as a win. I read three books completely and all but 30 pages of my 4th book (which is now finished).

Challenges

Didn’t get two trips a week to the gym. I only made it three times for the month and one long walk.

I also didn’t get my 3 glasses of water a day, no excuses, I just didn’t get it done.

I didn’t make my bed-I think this just isn’t a priority for me. Maybe I’ll revisit it at a later date, maybe I won’t.

I also didn’t get a room cleaned and organized each week. I do have some excuses here, an extra house guest and a new appliance sitting in my living room that needs to be installed but mostly I was still being lazy on my one day off each week.

And, of course, the worst failure was that I only had two blog posts. That will be remedied this month! I have several ideas churning for new posts.

So what’s on the agenda for October?

Healthy Living:

A trip to the dentist (I have an extreme phobia but this is a necessity)

2 glasses of water daily

45 minutes of exercise twice a week. I would still like to make it a priority to exercise at the gym since I’m paying for a membership but this takes some of the stress off of me if it gets late so I can take a nice walk around the neighborhood and still be getting my exercise in rather than making a trip to the gym.

Money/Career:

8 No Spend days and I’m going to do better about tracking these.

3 blog posts and one day working on my blog design and behind the scenes work

Personal:

3 books read

Clean and organize one room

Purge 20 items from our house

Some of these goals are the same or similar from last month and that’s fine. That means they are priorities to me. Some got dropped from the list (making my bed) and that’s fine too because it’s important to figure out what’s important to you and what’s not. Everyone has the same 24 hours a day so it’s up to you to decide how you’re going to spend those hours to make your life better.
