It’s time for another challenge!
I feel like I’m pretty self-aware when it comes to my strengths and weaknesses. A great example of this is that I know I am not disciplined enough to just do the things I need to do to be healthier on a daily basis.
I know I need to drink more water and exercise. Just knowing these two things is not enough for me to just exercise more and drink more water and less chai lattes/Frappuccinos. So what’s the solution? For me, it’s to create a challenge. It’s ridiculous, but it works for me so that’s what I occasionally do when I feel like I’m slipping on things. I just took a mini-vacation and I realized my arms were flabby and my cardio definitely isn’t where it should be as I was huffing and puffing through the theme park (to be fair, the heat index was over 100 degrees though).
56 Day Challenge
I know, what a weird number. It started out as a 60 day challenge but I realized two of the items on my list were to do something a certain number of times during the week so I thought it would be easier to do the challenge in week increments. What’s involved in this challenge? Glad you asked, here we go:
45 minute workout 5 days a week (any exercise works: gym, yoga, walking, etc.)
96 ozs of water daily
Fast from 10pm-10am (because I stink at other diets)
8 hours of sleep daily
30 minutes non-fiction reading or podcast
30 minutes of writing daily 6 days a week
My youngest man-child pointed out the water intake would probably be the hardest for me. He’s not wrong, lol. I can not stand plain water. I really like the berry flavored Propel waters but to drink 96 ounces of those a day, I’d have to basically drink a 6 pack of the waters daily and that would be pricey.
The sleep quota will also be tough. I’m a huge night owl and it feels like such a waste of time going to bed when I’m not sleepy. I’m very aware though that sleep is sooo very important to our health. I also know I shouldn’t be preaching to my eldest man-child about its importance when I’m not prioritizing it either. Pretty sure I have a sleep deficit of about 20 years.
Do you have things that you have to trick yourself into doing? Are you a fan of challenges or are you just much more disciplined than I am?
Wish me luck…here I go…by the time you’re reading this, I’ll be on Day 2
