Hello March

Please share if you've enjoyed this post!

February is a short month but this year it was especially whirlwind. My youngest son bought a home and I left for a 5-day cruise the following day. The eldest man-child came into town for a brief visit and then I blinked and the month is basically over. My February challenge for myself, which I’m not sure I announced, was to read 4 non-fiction books. So far I’ve only completed 2 but I’m part way through a third so it’s still possible…

March Challenge

What am I doing for March? I think I’m going to re-visit my decluttering challenge that I failed at in January. I’ve seen several people post about a 40 bag challenge for Lent. Basically, they’re getting rid of 40 bags of clutter during the Lent season (is season the right word??)

Decluttering Game Plan

Not sure that I’m going to commit to 40 bags but let’s say 60 items. Nick has a lot of his stuff out of the house now. What’s left in our (now) spare bedroom is probably left over junk of Michael or Nick’s that they really don’t want. It should be easy enough to determine if it can be junked or if it gets delivered to their homes. Nick is close enough to drop it off and I’ll be making a trip to Indy in 2 weeks and can deliver Michael’s stuff. Anything they don’t want to claim goes in the trash or to Goodwill or on FB marketplace.

My room is just as bad. It’s always cluttered. I would love to become a minimalist, tidy person. I just don’t think it’s ever going to happen. It’s not in my hard-wiring apparently. My son buying a condo has given me the fever of getting my place on the market sooner rather than later though so hopefully that’s enough motivation for me to curb my messy ways.

Future Plans

I think the true spare bedroom is going to stay that. Michael needs a spot to sleep when he pops in for visits. The modified spare bedroom (AKA the dining room) is going to be a dedicated office space. Both boys were still home for a bit when I bought this condo so we converted the dining room into a 3rd bedroom by walling up a portion of the dining room and adding a barn door. I think we’ll be able to get away with leaving it staged as a cute office space instead of converting it back to a dining room when I sell. My fabulous realtor may disagree but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, lol.

50 Before 50

A little side project is going to be coming up with a 50 before 50 list for myself. 50 things I want to do before I turn 50 next March. If you know me, you know I enjoy being a little dramatic. I’m fully expecting a bit of a mid-life crisis with the number 50 looming. I think the 50 before 50 list might stave that off a bit. It’s worth a try at least.

Any suggestions for me for my list? Leave them in the comments. Nothing to expensive please!
