As always, I was quite ambitious with my 2025 intentions. And although I succeeded with a few items, there were quite a few I bombed on. Here’s the good news, even the fact that I didn’t achieve everything, I’m still ahead of the game with the things I did accomplish.
The Good
I’ll start off with the positive…
I said I was going to read 52 books and I’ve completed 75 so far. I’m also part way through about 3 other books (I don’t usually have multiple books going at once). 10 of these were supposed to be non-fiction and so far that number is at 9. We’ll see if I can squeeze in one more non-fiction book in the next 3 days.
I paid off one debt completely-my student loans!
I’m definitely getting more consistent sleep-at least 7 hours, if not more, most nights.
The Bad
Exercise goal went terribly, unless you count the physical therapy exercises I was doing. Health issues plagued me this year. I went through several months of physical therapy for both my knees and my shoulder. I’ll be having surgery on my shoulder in January and hopefully after that recovery process I’ll be able to get back to a regular exercise routine.
My writing intention fell by the wayside as well. I did not even attempt to complete NANOWRIMO, didn’t get to do a writer’s retreat, and this post is just the 7th one of the year. Part of it was severe writer’s block and part was just not making the time.
Also didn’t complete any home improvement projects and, worse, didn’t even get the quotes done. Sigh…I think this is the one that makes me the most frustrated. To top it off, my washing machine went kaput this July and caused water damage to my neighbor’s place as well so that was an extra cost incurred. Always something…
Sneak Peek into 2026
2026 is going to be the year where I get hyper focused on myself. My health, both physical and mental, is going to be a huge priority. The last 5 years have been tough on me with various physical ailments, between a nasty case of Covid and lingering side effects from that, foot surgery, physical therapy for my knees and shoulder, etc. I’m determined to be a model patient after this shoulder surgery and also to get back to a regular workout routine once I’m cleared from the doctor.
Mental health is also going to become a bigger priority. I work too much and I sleep too little amongst other things. My diet also needs to be better. I’m not getting any younger and I have things I want to do in this chapter of my life.
Who else is setting some resolutions/goals/intentions for 2026? Tell me about them.
