2021 Wrap Up

2021 was nearly as rough as 2020. That’s all I’m going to say about that because I decided that despite some really tough challenges and situations that occurred this year, I’m going to choose an attitude of gratitude going into 2022. I am thankful for being able to spend more time with family and friends this year.

I’m not even going to go into too many details on my 2021 resolutions like I normally do. There were a lot of items on my 2021 list that I didn’t accomplish. A few I did though.  Guess what? That means I’m still further ahead of where I was in 2020, and for me, that’s what it’s all about…continuing to move forward.

I’m firmly planted in a state of transition in my life currently. This is the next chapter for me. My boys are grown and both graduated from college and working hard at their new careers. I’m incredibly proud of all they’ve accomplished and the lives they’re building for themselves. Suddenly my life role has majorly shifted though. Their independence is inspiring me to make changes also.

2021 Blog/Writing Update

I said I wasn’t going to go into too many details about my progress (or lack thereof) on my 2021 goals and resolutions and I’m not. My lack of progress on my writing goals though really bothers me though. I did submit some writing projects but my work on my blog and building it up was abysmal. I only had 15 blog posts for the year, only gained 5 new subscribers to my email list, and had 28% less views for the year then I did in 2020.

What’s my excuse? I was working too much to devote the time and energy to working on it. And that’s exactly what it is-an excuse. And it’s not even a good excuse. Yes, I work way too much but I still found time to watch a bunch of tv and color way too many pictures on my Happy Color app (don’t even look this up because it’s crazy addicting!!)

Writing is my passion. It’s what makes my heart and soul happy so why am I choosing other things over that? Why am I not choosing me? Sometimes it’s writers block. Sometimes it’s because I need to be working on the not-so-fun stuff like learning about email lists and SEO and all the behind the scenes stuff that is a little technical that I need to research. As my girl Jen Sincero says, “If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not, you’ll find an excuse.”

What About Those Other Resolutions?

Lost a few pounds, certainly not the 20 I was wanting. Definitely sleeping more. Read 25 books for the year. Still drinking way too much diet coke and way too many Chai Lattes but I have added more water in also.

Don’t even ask about the credit cards. My car cost me big this year but it is paid off now. I was hoping to take that car payment and start saving for a new car but unfortunately it’s been used to pay for numerous car repairs instead. Still have lots of little stuff to fix in my condo too.

How about 2022?

Big plans for 2022…I know everyone is paranoid about saying that out loud after the last 2 years but I’m going to be fearless and declare it.

Still working on my resolutions but I’m trying to make them a little different this year. Oh, there will still be some money goals in there because reducing my debt is a big tool to help me reach my other dreams of traveling and upgrading a few things in my life. I want to focus more on my happiness and mental health this year though.

I also think I do better when I break my goals into weekly or at least monthly stages so I may focus on one resolution a month. Still not sure yet, so stay tuned!

What about you? Any big resolutions or goals or dreams you’re working on this year? I would honestly love to hear about them. I want to be able to root you on as well!
